You experience a light fainting sensation, a sudden stiffness. There is tingling or numbness on your face or on one side of your limbs. You wonder if you have had a stroke. There are three simple tests you can perform to see for yourself: S.R.S. (Smile, Raise, Speak)
1. Smile: Smile in front of a mirror. Do the corners of your mouth move unevenly?
2. Raise your arm: Keeping your arms straight, raise them in front of you until they reach shoulder height. Keep them there for 10 seconds. Do you have any difficulty doing this?
3. Speak: Speak a complete sentence loudly to yourself. For example, you can say, "I will call Art Of Wellness tomorrow." Do you find it difficult to speak? Do your words come out unclear?
The above tests are 90% accurate. If you answered "Yes" to any one of them, you most likely have just had a stroke attack. You should contact your doctor as soon as possible.
